McKenzie | Hop Sensory Analysis With Oil Creek Brewing

McKenzie comes in at 11.8%

McKenzie has proven itself in the brewing world in varieties like Pale Ales and West Coast IPAs. Aromas of Grapefruit, Melon, specifically honey dew melon, really pop in this variety. Flavors of Citrus, think fruit pith, and a woodiness, are prevalent in this variety.

McKenzie would make a great late addition as well as whirlpool. This variety is super oily which leads to great extraction rates. This is a much lesser known variety and as you may know, some of these varieties can really shock you. Pair this hop with a rich piney hop in an old school west coast IPA, or mosaic and Citra in a hazy.

Don’t sleep on this hop!
