This crop of Barbe Rouge comes in at 8.6% Alpha Acids and grown in the Alcase region of France. This location is on the Rhine River near Switzerland and Germany. This region is right in those great growing latitudes for hops! Barbe Rouge translates to red beard. Given its flavors and aromas as well as its cone shape, l’d say that’s appropriate.
Barbe Rouge has great aromas of red berries like strawberries and raspberries, citrus zest and slightly floral.
The flavors are really ripe berry, zest and a subtle bitterness.
This hop is great in American Wheats, that’s where l’ve used it, as well as hazy IPA, and modern Pilsner. French pils, anyone?
Check it out today!
Cheers! 🍻
