
Pekko is an American variety grown in the Pacific Northwest. This variety is 14.3 alpha acids and has flavors of Menthol, Citrus, and floral.
This hops aroma is pretty sharp on the menthol character too. It boasts a fair amount of fresh citrus too. I really would like to see this used in a Gose. I think it would pair well. It also would go well in a crisp lager or pale ale. Definitely ideal for lighter styles.
If you’re brewing or tasting, expect a crisp, refreshing kick with a modern twist.
Fun Fact! Pekko is named after the Finnish – and Estonian – god of fields, crops, barley, and beer brewing (also spelled Peko or Pekka in folklore). It is classified as a dual-purpose hop, meaning it’s excellent for both bittering (early in the boil) and flavor/aroma additions (finish/late-boil/dry-hop).
