Strata| Hop Sensory Analysis With Oil Creek Brewing

Strata is a relatively newer variety. It comes in at 14% Alpha Acids and boasts wonderful dank aromas of orange, menthol and fruit. The menthol and orange comes through on the nose as well as the dank orange on the final product.

I’ll never forget the first beer I had with strata. I was hooked! It was a hazy ipa and it was paired with citra. It was phenomenal!

Of course, l’ve used Strata in NEIPA, but also successfully in lagers. It would go well West Coast IPA, Cold IPAs, and Pale Ales. If you’re looking for a sure fire orange or dankness in your beer you need to get Strata!

Strata pairs well with Mosaic and Simcoe. They are complimentary to one another. This combo makes a flavor bomb that will stick to your tongue and leaving you for another sip!

Strata was the first hop variety bred entirely in Oregon to go from experimental field to full commercial release, making it kind of the “homegrown pride” of the state’s hop scene.

Modern Approaches to Lager Turnaround Time

Because patience is overrated For years, brewers have been told that lagers demand cold temperatures, long timelines, and a level of discipline that borders on obsession. Keep it in the 40s or low 50s, give it weeks to ferment, then let it sit even longer to “clean up.” That has always been the rule. But…
